Technical Solution Lead - Office of the Chief Scientific Officer
The UnitedHealth Group Office of the Chief Scientific Officer (OCSO) is developing an exciting new technology platform that will enable health plans, clinical practices, and all who provide patient care better leverage of patient health data to drive better treatment decision support, higher clinical quality, a reduction in treatment variation, fewer gaps in care, and improved affordability. This platform bridges the traditional interaction divide between Providers and Payers, and will transform the ways in which each person's health care is provided and experienced - at a scale that makes a difference. The OSCO is seeking a Technical Solution Lead to define and drive solution implementation on this new platform. Work with Product Managers, Technical Teams, and other technologists in the development, communication and implementation of the technology architecture and applications plan - including defining the components required to support it and the integration of corporate and business architectures and applications.
Be the key voice to balance business and technology needs in Feature definition and prioritization and support detailed solution definition and problem-solving in the Agile teams as they work through sprints to implement those features. Primary Responsibilities: Work with other architects, solution leads, and delivery and packaging teams to build solutions via the via various data provisioning systems, the enterprise service layers, custom solutions, and COTS software Develop, manage and communicate current state and future state architectural models, keeping them aligned to changing business needs and relevant for active technology portfolio management Integrate functional and non-functional requirements in High-Level Designs, including balancing technical trade-offs and risk mitigation at the program level Contribute to the product roadmap for the product; own specific technical roadmaps / solution-side roadmaps Provide expertise in applications / COTS software evaluation, selection and implementation Assist in writing, refining, and prioritizing user stories Hands-on solution development, implementation, and validation as needed Bring people together to meet common goals using facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills. Build and advance collaborative relationships with business partners, product managers and IT partners Support and steer employees and project teams through efficient design, development, testing, and deploy phases Understand and ensure adherence to enterprise technology standards (e.g.
solution patterns, application frameworks, technology roadmaps, capital plans) or follow exception/waiver processes as needed Ensure solutions are of high quality, are high performance and are scalable Excellent oral and written communication skills including facilitation, influencing and negotiation Strive to be a thought leader and advanced practitioner in creative tools and tactics; forward-thinking in understanding the emerging tools, technologies, and business practices and progressive in learning the application of these tools and practices Required Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in applicable area of expertise, or equivalent experience 10+ years of experience in implementing and integrating custom software with other custom software, enterprise software, or cloud solutions - specifically including solution or functional architecture, system integration, solution design, development / configuration, and deployment 5+ years of working with data integration patterns Knowledgeable in industry standard patterns, practices and technologies (e.g.
SaaS, Web Services, SOA, Big Data technologies, Mobile, PaaS, etc.) In-depth knowledge of data integration patterns and software tools Experience facilitating and leading data solution design, architecture & delivery planning activities across geographically diverse and multi-disciplinary teams Experience using Agile delivery methods Healthcare industry experience Knowledge of Security, Privacy, and PHI / PII concerns Preferred Qualifications: Experience with UHG enterprise infrastructure and technologies Experienced designing EMR, HIE, or other provider or clinical data integration systems Experience working-with and supporting international business teams Careers at UnitedHealth Group.
